The Mývatn Visitor Center is a welcoming hub located near the southwestern shore of Lake Mývatn, at 660 Skútustaðir in northern Iceland. Open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM year-round, it serves as an essential starting point for travelers exploring the stunning landscapes and unique natural wonders of the Mývatn region.

Inside, visitors can find educational exhibits about the area's geology, volcanic activity, flora, and fauna. The knowledgeable staff provide detailed information on hiking routes, birdwatching, accommodation, and recreational activities nearby.

 

The center also offers free clean restrooms, a small gift shop with local crafts and souvenirs, and a cozy café for refreshments. Just a short walk from the parking lot, guests can enjoy a viewing point with panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscapes.
